Cyber Jihadist “Here you Have” mass-mailer worm

Last week Joe Stewart of SecureWorks blogged about the “Here you have” malicious email that circulated around the globe. Stewart indicated that the email is possibly attributed to cyber jihadist, Brigade of Tariq ibn Ziyad who’s founder has the handle “iraq_resistance”. The email was able to circulate through US Dept of Defense, Federal Government and multiple large US companies and was proven to be successful in small cases.

Securing the GCC

The Pentagon has recently disclosed details about a 2008 “Cyber Attack” which propagated via USB.  The attack was categorized by William S. Lynn III, the Deputy Secretary of Defense, as “the most significant breach of U.S. military computers ever”.   In the wake of this event, it’s an opportune time to highlight the role of the Geographic Combatant Commands (GCC) in defending the Department of Defense (DoD) networks and providing an accurate, Intelligence lead threat picture of the global threat.

Pentagon Cyber Strategy

The Deputy Secretary of Defense has written an article on the Pentagon’s Cyber Strategy titled “Defending a New Domain“.  This is happening on the backend of a lot of activity surrounding the 2008 “Cyber Attack” which utilized a USB stick to infect the DoD Networks with malicious code.
